Beyond Benidorm
BBVA Research has analyzed developments in the Valencian tourism sector for a number of years, and seen the important changes that it has undergone. The sector generates around EUR 16 billion per year (15% of regional GDP) and is responsible for 290,000 jobs (15% of total employment).

Valencian Community Economic Outlook. First half 2020
The economy of the Valencian Community could have grown by 1.9% in 2019 and will advance by 1.5% in 2020 and 2.0% in 2021. Some 55,000 jobs will be created in the two-year period, although the risks are numerous. The level of employment will be 4.2 percentage points lower than before the crisis.

Valencian Community Economic Outlook. Second half 2019
The economy of Valencian Community grew by 2.1% in 2018 and will advance by 2.0% in 2019 and by 1.4% in 2020. This will add around 74,000 new jobs in the biennium, although the risks are numerous and some of them are more likely now. The employment level will be 6.4 percentage points below the pre-crisis level

Valencian Community Economic Outlook. First half 2019
The economy of Valencian Community grew 2.5% in 2018 and will grow 2.3% in 2019 and 1.9% in 2020. This will add around 75,000 new jobs in the period and unemployment shall drop to 11.2%. Although pre-crisis GDP per capita will be recovered, creating more and better jobs remains as a challenge. However, measures must be promoted so that the recovery may be inclusive.

La economía de la Comunitat Valenciana creció un 3,3% en 2016; se prevé que crezca un 3,2% en 2017 y un 2,7% en 2018. Se crearán 120.000 puestos de trabajo hasta el final de 2018 y la tasa de paro bajará hasta el 14,4%. Aunque se recuperará el nivel de PIB per cápita precrisis, crear más y mejor empleo sigue siendo el principal reto.

Valencian Community Economic Outlook. First half 2017
The economy of the Region of Valencia grew by 3.5% in 2016 and will continue to do so to 2.7% in 2017 and 2.6% in 2018. 120,000 jobs will be created throughout the biennium in the region, and the precrisis level of GDP per capita will be recovered. The slowdown in domestic demand will only be partially offset by the recovery of the foreign sector.
