China | SOE reforms could unlock the potential of unproductive sectors and boost growth

Summary

The productivity of SOEs in China has been called into question, particularly in sectors which are also struggling with overcapacity. We take stock of China’s ongoing SOE reform process and identify the main sectors that would be receptive to higher shares of private capital and foreign capital.
