Lower purchases by car rental companies explain the slight contraction of car registrations in May

Once seasonal and calendar effects are accounted for, BBVA Research's estimations suggest that car registrations decreased in May, as expected. Higher demand by individual users and firms was not sufficient to offset the marked drop in purchases by car rental companies
