Peru | The Central Bank's concern about inflation is increasing

Summary

The monetary policy rate stayed at 3,25% in August. However, CB's concerns on the inflation outlook have increased. In spite of this, we do not expect changes in the policy rate in the near term. The rate of depreciation of the local currency will soon tend to moderate and thus its impact on inflation. Besides, a rate hike could choke the fragile private spending.
