Permits in December grew to 5,074, representing an increase of 2.7% from the previous month. The data surprised positively and the annual aggregate shows an increase of visas around 42.5% compared to 2015. The refurbishment fell by 0,4% from November and ends the year with an increase of 12.3% from the previous year.

In September 4,419 housing permits were signed, 2.9% more than in the previous month. This puts an end to a quarter in which they have remained stable compared to 2T15. Thus, permits signed between January and September increased 30.6% yoy. For its part, refurbishment also showed a positive development.

In August, 2,742 permits were signed, representing an increase of 7.8% from the previous month. Thus, the first eight month´s balance shows an increase of permits around 28% YoY. In August the refurbishment also showed a positive development.

Permits in june and july amounted to 4.540 y 5.198, respectively. In both months the monthly growth rate remained virtually stable, in line with forecasts. However, housing shows a upward trend and, in the first seven months, grew by 28% a/a.

In May, 3956 permits were signed, representing an adjustment of 9.2% from the previous month. As expected, the data offsets part of the the positive surprise in the previous month.Thus, the first five month´s balance shows an increase of permits around 28% YoY. The refurbishment increased.

Permits in April rose to 3.064, representing an increase of 20% from the previous month. The data was better than expected and more than offset the fall of the previous month. Thus, the aggregate of the first four months shows an increase of visas around 30% YoY. The refurbishment showed a limited increase.

In February 4,203 building permits were signed off, 6.2% more than the previous month. After the strong growth in January, the figure was better than expected. Thus, the activity of the first two months of the year increased 48% YoY. By contrast, refurbishment fell in February.

In January 3,466 building permits were signed off, 1.2% more than the previous month. Thus, the growth trend, which was interrupted in the final months of 2014, is back. Refurbishment also started the year with a significant increase.

Durante el mes de noviembre la firma de visados para la construcción de vivienda nueva cayó 14,7% respecto al mes anterior, una evolución peor a la esperada que mantiene la actividad constructora en niveles mínimos. Aun así, los visados firmados en los once primeros meses de 2014 crecieron el 5,1% respecto al mismo periodo del año anterior. Por su parte, noviembre tampoco fue un buen mes para la rehabilitación que se redujo el 2,4% respecto al mes anterior.

Permits in October fell by 1.2% from the previous month. Despite this decline, the trend in construction activity remains growing, albeit from a low base. Thus, the number of permits registered between January and October is 6.7% higher those from the same period last year. Meanwhile, refurbishment grew in October.

Permits in September grew by 1.2% from the previous month, bringing to five the number of consecutive quarters of growth in construction activity, albeit from a low base. Thus, the number of permits registered between January and September is 5.7% higher those from the same period last year. Refurbishment, on the other hand, remained stagnant.

In August the permits fell 5.0% MoM, in line with expectations. In annual terms, permits grew for the sixth consecutive month. Thus, permits in the first eight months of the year rose 3.3% YoY. Meanwhile, refurbishment grew for the second consecutive month.
