1Q14 LFS: a bucket of cold water

Summary

The labour market’s performance in 1Q14 according to the LFS has been disappointing, in contrast with the Social Security and registered unemployment figures. The sharp reduction in the active population did not offset the fall in employment, greater than expected. As a result, the unemployment rate went up by 0.2pp to 25.9%.
