Spain | Labour Force Survey job creation continued in 1Q18, but at a slower pace than expected

Summary

The labour market recovery did not gain traction in 1Q18, contrary to expectations. The unfavourable seasonality led to a fall in Labour Force Survey employment of 124,200 people and an increase in the unemployment rate to 16.7%. After correcting this factor, employment increased again by 0.5% QoQ and the unemployment rate fell to 16.1%.
